Terms of Service

Last updated: August 13, 2026

These terms describe how you may use Motion for Change (“we,” “us”), including when you submit motions or support requests related to your elected representatives, and when you verify your identity with a U.S. state ID or digital credential. By using the service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

The service

Motion for Change helps you submit motions and support requests to your representatives. To confirm that you are a valid U.S. resident of voting age and to determine your districts, we may ask you to verify with a state ID or digital ID (for example via Apple Wallet or Google Wallet). Verification produces limited, non-personally-identifying details such as age threshold confirmation, locality, congressional district, and an anonymized unique identifier—not your name or street address.

Your responsibilities

Identity verification

When you verify with a digital ID, your device wallet presents selected credential fields over industry-standard protocols. We use those fields as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not retain personally identifying information from your state ID; we keep only an anonymized hash of state ID details to prevent double-counting users.

Accounts and content

You are responsible for activity under your account and for the motions and support requests you submit. We may refuse, edit, or remove submissions that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe are unlawful, abusive, or harmful to the service or other users.

Availability

The service is provided as-is. Features that depend on third parties (including digital ID issuers and wallets) may change or be unavailable. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Motion for Change is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim (or zero if you paid nothing).

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised terms.
